The brass was always leaving India. I brought it home.

I grew up in Moradabad — the city the world calls the brass capital of India. I watched artisans spend lifetimes perfecting their craft. I knew, from childhood, that something extraordinary was being made right there.

But every time I travelled internationally and walked into stores like Zara Home or West Elm, I'd pick up a beautiful brass piece, flip it over — and read: Made in India.

Proud. And puzzled. Because you couldn't find those same pieces in any Indian home store. The finest work was leaving the country. None of it was coming back.

"My own uncles said — who will buy this in India? Especially in Meerut?"

In 2015, from a small home studio, I decided to find out. I used family connections to source surplus pieces directly from the workshops of Moradabad. I set up my first exhibition — not knowing what to expect.

People came. They picked things up, turned them over, took them home. And then they came back. With friends. With a list.

That was the answer I needed. DEZIWORKZ was born.

Today, ten years later, every piece I curate carries the same intention — to bring the finest Indian craftsmanship into Indian homes, where it has always belonged.
